This one hour session is designed to teach you how to accurately interpret food labels so you can make informed, confident nutrition decisions without relying on marketing claims, fear based rules, or diet culture shortcuts. Rather than memorizing what foods to avoid, this session focuses on understanding how to evaluate ingredient lists, nutrition facts panels, serving sizes, and health claims in a way that is practical, realistic, and evidence informed. You will learn how to identify misleading marketing language, recognize when “healthy” labels are irrelevant or deceptive, and assess products based on your actual goals, health history, and dietary needs. During the session, we break down macronutrients, fibre, sugars, sodium, fats, and key micronutrients in the context of real foods you buy or are considering buying. We also discuss how to interpret labels differently depending on whether your goals involve digestive health, blood sugar control, weight management, athletic performance, or family nutrition. For returning clients, this session builds on prior nutrition work and applies label reading directly to your current meal plan and challenges. For first time clients seeking a deeper understanding, it provides a strong foundational skill that removes confusion and second guessing at the grocery store. By the end of the session, you will be able to quickly scan a label and understand what actually matters, what does not, and how to choose foods that align with your health goals without unnecessary restriction.
